The Story of The Elder

Our philosophy at the Elder is one of sustainability, with a focus on wild food, carefully harvested from land that has been managed for thousands of years.

Restaurateur Mike Robinson, along with our amazing Head Chef, Jon Coates –  both are passionate about hospitality, service and amazing, simple food. Our menus are a celebration of real seasonality – we only cook what is seasonal and local. The Elder is a reflection of the stunning landscape, wildlife and agriculture surrounding the ancient city of Bath.

Simple, honest flavours, carefully cooked, combined with true hospitality from our charming and knowledgeable staff give the diner a really memorable experience.

Dating back to 1700, South Parade was the famous architect John Wood the Elder’s first major project. After 4 years of careful restoration this building is now back to its former glory, and we at the Elder are proud to call it home.
